BREAK THIS ROD 2017!

BREAK THIS ROD!

Badger turned the Tenkara world upside down in 2014 when we held our first BREAK THIS ROD contest. We found the cheesiest fixed-line rod we could, and challenged participants to catch the most epic fish they could with it - or any piece of it that survived long enough to complete the mission. The idea took off like a rocket - all 25 available slots sold out in less than 36 hours!

There might have been a few snags, truth be told. Several competitors stated that they were the "smelliest rods they had ever fished". One angler nearly died from an allergic reaction to insect stings when a nearby swarm of hornets mistook the rod's golden paint-job as some kind of mating beacon. But the winner got a cool prize, and 3 years later people still talk about how much fun it was. Everybody had a blast!

Let's BREAK THIS ROD for a great cause.

Camp Healing Waters was started in 2016 as a multi-day camp that strives to address the physical and emotional healing needs of wounded heroes and their spouses. The program focuses on providing comforting surroundings, counseling, and support to veterans and families that are dealing with changes brought on by the wounds of war. It is in this setting that many families are able to identify challenges and symptoms that can be better understood and eventually treated through proper diagnosis and therapy.

Badger Tenkara strongly believes in Camp Healing Waters and their mission. We were honored to outfit last year's class with our rods at a deep discount. This year, we are asking for your assistance in helping us to equip CHW participants.

Your $40 BREAK THIS ROD purchase gets you entered into the contest; $15 covers the rod and shipping, and more importantly, the additional $25 makes a contribution towards outfitting Camp Healing Waters with "real" Badger Tenkara rods that the Veterans take home and keep after the program.

Play Silly Games, Win Awesome Prizes!

It is easy to get involved - simply purchase a BAMBOO BANDIT and you are in the contest! There are some great reasons to BREAK THIS ROD besides the antics you'll see when a bunch of folks start fishing in a wild and crazy way. We've got the contest broken down into 4 categories that you can win, and each gives you a pick of some great prizes. There are two of each prize, and 3 get to pick from them depending on which challenge they win. One winner will be drawn at random!

The Challenge Categories:
Fish your "Bamboo Bandit" anyway you want to win anyway you can!
Challenge #1: First Pick
Biggest Fish!

Challenge #2: Second Pick
Most Epic Story!
Challenge #3: Third Pick

Best Rod Modification or Repair!
Remaining prize awarded to participant chosen at random

2 BEDROCK Vice Bases

Tenkara Jam organizer Jason Sparks is creating and donating these especially for BREAK THIS ROD 2017. They'll be the largest size available, solid granite bases with brass hardware. The small bases in the pictures are representative of the deluxe versions the winners will receive.

The Rules:
> Compete in a safe and legal manner.

> You DO NOT have to break the rod to compete or win. If it does break - repair it so you can get back in the game!

> Submissions can be posted to Badger Tenkara's Facebook page, or sent via email to fishon@badgertenkara.com
> Contestants can make as many submissions as they want. Deadline for submissions is extended to July 10th, 2017.

> Whichever submission gets the most votes in each category wins the prize! One winner will be chosen at random from the participating anglers.

DOH, Good catch! I'm going to publish an update and push back the deadline a week. Give everyone a chance to slip in a final submission.
